This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to operate, inspect and monitor dust collection plant associated with a power station.
Power generation facilities will produce waste that must either be removed, recycled or stored. Dust produced from the generation of power must be disposed of using an established dust handling system.
Competency in this unit requires the ability to plan work, operate dust disposal plant, test dust disposal plant operation, respond to abnormal dust disposal plant operations, monitor and inspect dust disposal plant and complete all documentation. Individuals will, in general, work under supervision, in a power generation facility as an operator.
Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.
